Danielle Hawkins- Romans 8
Romans 8:18-22
"Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time."
I read this passage and I anticipate the day when creation will be restored to its full potential and glory. I get super giddy at the sights that will happen when the new heaven and new earth appear/ come down (Revelation 21). I honestly think we get tastes of the full glory in bits in pieces (thank you Jesus for your unfailing love and mercy and kindness) but I think we also face the reality of creation crying out. It is said to see the effects of climate change on the environment. I don't think it is ironic that man was the one to cause the earth to start dying and continue to brutally murder it each and everyday as we burn more and more fossil fuels and fill the oceans with trash. I long for the day when the earth will be restored and the pains will be reconciled.
