Danielle Hawkins- Sunset

As I was sitting writing blogs, I looked out the window and noticed the pink tent in the sky... this and the weird weather today meant one thing. an amazing. sunset. I hopped out of my seat and ran to the balcony. My sunset sense tingled and I turned around and sprinted towards the great lawn. As I emerged on to the plaza, I saw what has to be one of the top 5 best sunsets I have ever seen in my 4 years at CNU. As I ran near the bell tower I spotted a fellow sunset chaser who has become one of my closest friends this year. We sat together and enjoyed the surreal sight in front of us. As I sat there I started thinking about the weird weather today. From sunny to pouring on and off all day long. Its funny how this beautifully summed up my entire senior year. I gazed at the heavens and watched the gray clouds be shined upon with pinks, oranges, yellows, and purples. The wind picked up and the trees cried out in their swaying. I could only think of the lyrics of a Kings Kaleidoscope song:

All creatures of our God and King

Lift up your voice and with us sing,

      Oh praise Him! Alleluia!

Thou burning sun with golden beam,

Thou silver moon with softer gleam!

O, praise Him! O, praise Him!

Within moments of creation and me crying out to the one true King, the bell chimed 8 times. All four years of my college life flashed before my eyes. I saw frisbees flying across the lawn, I saw the remains of cookout milkshake cups, I saw so many beautiful smiling faces, I saw countless hours spent in the quiet room of the library, and finally I looked up to see a glorious sunset. Sunsets sum up the beauty and blaze that has been my college career.  How surreal to top and almost finish my last week of classes with one of the most beautiful sunsets. As I reluctantly walked back into the lib one of my best friends, Christy, walked out, "so this is where you hauled ass too"
