KT Watson- Aldo Leopold

Aldo Leopold, the father of wildlife ecology, and a proponent for conservationism in the US, had many ideas still used by environmentalist today.  His 'land ethic' discusses the moral responsibility a person has to the natural world; oftentimes our industrialist culture focuses on human progress, and not its effects on our environment.  In our destruction and consumption of the natural world, we should in turn give back to it.  I believe it is our duty to reduce harm on our local/global environments, to try and preserve and protect our environment; human beings exist within the natural world, and even if we are separate due to technology, we can still be impacted by it.  Protecting the environment is both an environmentalist cause and a humanitarian cause, preserving the world for ourselves and future generations.
