KT Watson- Entomophagy

Entomophagy, the eating of insects, is often seen as gross in western culture; insects are pests, and are seen as signs of rot, and culturally seen as gross.  While unpalatable, insects are a viable a food source, needing much less energy to grow (less feed in relation to proteins produced) and are less harmful to the environment than larger meat species.  I did many presentations on this topic in high school; admitably I also hesitate to eat insects, but it is still an interesting thought prompt.  Both crickets and mealworms safe for human consumption are sold in America (you can buy them at the near by Virginia Living Museum), and home starter kits to grow your own 'livestock' are available online.  I am not saying everyone should go out an eat insects as a part of your daily diet, but just read up on the phenomena and think about it.
