KT Watson- Kosher Locusts

The consumption of insects is forbade in Judaism, but in some communities locusts are considered kosher.  Both Moroccan and Yemenite Jewish communities consider certain locusts species kosher, their edibility determined by the Mishna. This is interesting, considering how locusts are notorious for swarming and consuming crops (especially in the regions mentioned above), so in the event their food source is destroyed, the locusts are still edible.  While this topic is debated, it shows how local environment can effects a religion/religious discussions, adapting to support the local communities.
