KT Watson- Ritual Slaughter

Halal and kosher slaughter are hotly debated topics, these religious rituals seen as barbaric and as animal cruelty by many animal rights groups.  These views oftentimes come from a secular perspective, only seeing the death of the animal rather than the religious mindset behind it.  Judaism has special focus on animal welfare as reflected in the Talmud, with specific passages promoting health and wellbeing of animals under a persons care.  Both halal and kosher slaughtering practices are relatively painless, effected methods for killing animals for consumption (the sacred exchange of energy).  In comparison to many industrial farming practices, that focus on producing the most meat for profit rather than animal wellbeing, they are ethical methods.  Banning these methods of slaughter does nothing except harm minority groups.
